Innocent people are suffering everywhere in the world, and have been all the time from the beginnings of humanity, and most animals, who are unable to sin, live their lives in stress and meet violent deaths. That's life, unfortunately. The thought that God is looking after us and our loved ones personally is a nice, comforting one... as is the thought that people are in 'a better place' when nice, good people do die of other causes than old age, but... what can I say. I'm an atheist, as you know. :)
